Stitchy Fingers

Hello everyone on the threshold of an old finishing year and the start of a new year full of possibilities ... I would like to warmly thank each and everyone that left a comment for my birthday last week. Although I didn't find the time to respond to everyone, they were highly appreciated! In the meanwhile I've finished two other houses of the Christmas Village and I'm still waiting for the last three months \ charts to be delivered on my doorstep. Wishing you all a lovely, happy, prosperous and creative 2014. P.S.: I'll post a stash busting report soon (the things I've bought with my birthday money :-) !

It's December and for the moment it seems like I'm turning in rounds like a cat following it's tail. I'm into stitching Christmas designs and yet I know they won't be finished before the ending of the year. With each season - Spring/Easter, Summer and Halloween - this is a repeating thing! Let's take the Santa's Village ... I'm still waiting for parts 10 to 12 to arrive and I will be finishing part 8 shortly. Am I happy with it? No, but I'll have to live with that! Enough venting! To stay a little bit in the Christmas stitching spirit I've found some great Gingerbread cottages offered on this really nice - German - site where you can also find quite some other freebies as well. I like them all but favourites are the middle two in the top row and the left and middle house on the last row. Yesterday (Sunday) marked the start of a new stitching adventure ... one that won't be finished for quite some while. As you might already know I just love the German designers and I decided to venture into something that is completely new to me ... stitching a tablecloth! I already had my eye for quite some time on a Christmas tablecloth featured in the book "Winterzauber" from Acufactum. I have a beautifull piece of fabric that's just perfect for it (only flaw = it's a 10ct instead of the asked for 12ct). Vaupel & Heilenbeck yarns were ordered and duely received so ... off with this adventure! I'll show you a real picture once there's more to show than the meager 30 stitches I have now (needed to baste the whole thing, count to make sure I was starting at the good place, ... this all took more time than I thought it would take :-)! Now that knitting the dresses for both daughters is almost finished, I'm starting to think about my projects that I'll be doing the next couple of weeks during that the long summer holiday - which will be sunny I hope :-) You're going to laugh with me but I'm already thinking about some Halloween and Christmas projects because I won't make it in time to finish any bigger summer project before the ending of September. It will definitely be a Cricket Collection theme for the rest of the year. My original Summer projects would've been:   OR   ALSO TEMPTING   But then there are other projects that are calling my name louder and louder :-)! I definitely need to finish my Sleepy Hollow because I want it to be my "showpiece"  on Halloween and I'm tempted starting Ladie's Night or Haunted Treehouse ...     OR EVEN   There's one thing ... I don't know where to find small badges of the fabric used...

Look what Lizzie Kate is going to release = a new flip-it series released in four parts! A first glimpse   Complete Need I say more? I think I'll have a lovely decorated house next year ... ... that is when I finish everything on time! ;-)

Hi all, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas with your family and friends, sharing good company, food and laughter! I have been quiet but busy ... celebrating my birthday on the 23rd, eating out at my parent's house on the 24th and having a couple of free days between Christmas and New Year (my kids are staying with the grandparents of my hubbies side ;-). I've managed to stitch another ornament of which I already spoke of in one of my previous e-mails. It still needs to be finished but I like it a lot! I also added a couple of ornaments on my ever growing tree ... I don't think I'll blog a lot the next couple of days so I would like to wish you all a happy New Year! Have fun, enjoy each other's company and stay safe!

Or rather not! The one day we had snow over here our traffic didn't move a lot :-) I've added some more ornaments (10 to be exact) on my Christmas tree and I'm moving up :-). With and without flash (to show you the colours better) As already said in my previous mails, I've added some Christmas decorations in my house. Althought it's a good start I think I can add lots and lots of ornaments in the future :-). Have to add the "balls" ;-)   A large vase   Take this ... and this ... And I have more Christmas decorations then last year when I only had two "meager" embroidered trees to show you - my very first post on my then new blog :-). So as promised an update on my finished Prairie Schooler santa ornaments.   I'm still in love with my Christmas tree and started adding new branches (which takes time do to because of all the different side-branches). New ornaments will also be added ...     I still owe you some book reviews and pictures of the content!   I'm also thinking of a small give-away. More news will follow ... so stay tuned ;-)  

... of always working on big projects and not seeing to much progress! Not an instant reward in sight for the near future! As I've told you before, Serengeti is starting to "weigh" a little bit on me. So I decided it was time to take a little break and stitch an ornament. I knew it would have to be something from the Prairie Schooler and something Christmas so ... I chose the St. Nicholas II chart. I found a piece of linnen perfect for it = it's very long and narrow and frankly I didn't know what to do with it (but kept it "in case of" :-). The first one I'm now working on is the Santa on the top right (holding the red cardinal). I hope to show you a finished ornament soon!
