IHSW October

Image
Hi Ladies, My oh my, did time fly! Last weekend we had the IHSW again and I must say that I'm quite pleased with the results I've booked! Normally my weekend is always quite busy but on Sunday I decided that it was MY DAY and I completely ignored my laundry and other house chores that were screaming loudly to me! ;-) I managed to finish my fifth Santa by The Prairie Schooler, made a good start with the sixth and made an entire second block for my quilt. Plans have changed a little bit by now ... Normally I was going to make nine blocks but now I've decided for 12 (the quilt will fit better on my "tea table" when finished). P.S.: That's not oxo but "lait russe" in my mug (basically some coffee and lots of milk ;-) I'll show you some more quilting tomorrow (last quilt lesson)!

A fabulous doll house

Image
On the website of Elisa I've read an article about the biggest and most beautifull doll house ever made: that of Queen Mary . "The Queen's Dolls' House is the largest, most beautiful and most famous dolls' house in the world. Created for Queen Mary in the early 1920s by the renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, it is a perfect replica of an aristocratic Edwardian residence, complete in every way - from the wine cellar, with its store of tiny bottles, each containing a thimbleful of vintage wine, to the library, with its exquisite volumes of original works by authors such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Thomas Hardy and Edith Wharton. This astonishing little house also has a garden designed by Gertrude Jekyll, a garage full of miniature limousines, and electricity, running water and working lifts. Each room, from the servants' bedrooms to the grand saloon, is fully furnished in every way, and waiting to be explored."        I really l...

Lovely Halloween freebie

Image
Via the " World's Largest Collection of Smalls Too " I've spotted a lovely freebie which comes from this site . I'm certainly going to stitch this (maybe already this weekend :-)!     I wanted to share because it's too cute! Have a nice weekend! Ann

And the name is ...?

Hi all, Thanks for all your sweet comments on my last post and sorry if I didn't respond to them. My life is a little bit hectic - nothing serious neither but just full - for the moment (hence my limited number of posts) but I hope that things will calm down for this and next month. I went to my second quilt course last Thursday and we had some chatter and exchanged information. Our teacher told us we should start thinking about a name for our quilt. Well ... I've already thought about it but didn't find one yet :-) This weekend I was able to finish my first block and it is a labour of love I must tell ya! It takes like forever to stitch everythink together - especially the last rows with all those intersections. I want to make nine blocks in total with borders and a small square in between (although I still don't know which two colours I'll be using - neither backing fabric). The block isn't ironed yet and I'm not sure if I'm totally satisfied w...

Whizzing by

Wow, can't believe it's almost a week that I didn't post! Let's say that I was quite busy during the last week :-) I've been to a quilt course for beginners on Thursday (4 lessons each Thursday in October), been washing my fabrics - all of them - on Saturday and clipping and tidying them on Sunday. I also started stitching on the first block in order to have something to "show off" this Thursday :-). The lady giving the class told us that she wouldn't have the time to explain nor show how you could quilt / stitch through when finished ... and this was the main reason why I'm going! I think I'll have to start to Google or find good instructions on the net or on YouTube. The block is more or less like this one (found on the net) ... I'll try to post pictures soon. It wasn't easy to start from scratch ... she told us "go ahead" and everyone stared at a blank page for quite some time ;-). I'll keep you posted abou...

Weekend stitching

Image
Well ... guess I didn't make it to the "Foir Fil" on Saturday (see previous message) due to different reasons ... one of them having used my stash budget in online shopping and during the previous fair . On Sunday we decided to enjoy the good weather before the "real" fall (with all its rain, low temperatures, ...) sets in, so we went out to the zoo . Yesterday I finally received two out of three parts from my Lizzie Kate Halloween Mystery kit (better late then never). We - the shop owner and I - started to get worried that the package got lost in the mail! Sometimes they're super fast and on other times they go with the lightning speed of a snail! My stash from the last weeks: Country Cottage Needleworks (I'm collecting the whole series and have already stitched January, February and March): I'll have to order "November" but I liked to complete the series in my pictures :-) Prairie Schooler (the last two-three years I...
