Quiltsnoepjes en een nieuw begin - Quilting goodies and new start

Hallo allemaal,

Vanaf nu ga ik ook bloggen in het Nederlands omdat het toch altijd wat vlotter gaat in je eigen moedertaal :-).

From now on I'm going to blog in Dutch as well because it's always a little bit easier blogging in your own language.

Zoals beloofd begin van deze week, zou ik ook wat meer vertellen over de dingetjes die ik bij de Quiltster in Dreischor gekocht heb.

As promised beginning of this week, I was going to tell you some more about the things I bought at "De Quiltster" in Dreischor - Holland.

Eerst en vooral de stofjes. Ik was al langer verliefd op de Camelot quilt maar toen Quiltmania besliste om deze - in delen - te publiceren was ik gelijk verkocht en besloot ik om hieraan te beginnen vanaf dat de gelegenheid zich zou voordoen. Laten we zeggen dat een bezoekje aan Marcha's snoepwinkel dit nog in een stroomversnelling heeft gebracht ;-).

First of all the fabrics. When Quiltmania decided to publish the Camelot quilt (in parts) I decided to give it a go. I was already in love with this quilt for a long time. Let's say that my visit to Marcha's candyshop allowed a speedy beginning.

Ondertussen heb ik afgelopen weekend al het eerste blok van de Camelot quilt uitgetekend en geknipt. Hier liggen alle stukjes nog los:

In the meanwhile I've started drawing and cutting the first block of the Camelot quilt last weekend. All the pieces are layed out (still loose) :

Favourite designers - Renato Parolin and Rovaris

This time we travel to the south of Europe ... Italy being our destination ;-) RENATO PAROLIN I can't remember how I got to know the designs of Renato Parolin (who doesn't have a website nor a blog)... I suppose I've seen some of his designs on fellow stitchers' blogs. His - yes ladies a MALE designer - theme is nature with lots of trees, deer, doves, squirrels, owls, flowers and hearts. First ornament of 2013!

I've finished it yesterday so I guess I'm still good for the 2013 Ornament SAL :-). I'm not completely sure if it's only the stitching that needs to be finished or the entire ornament ... I'll have to check that! So without further delay, here it is: Spring in my Garden Barbara Ana Designs   It was a real joy to stitch but the only thing I didn't like doing were the bees ... very small and fidly :-)   I've also changed the colour of the rabbit, chicken and the bees wings from DMC Desert Sand (colour variation) to 738 (rabbit and chicken) and white (bees wings) ... otherwise they wouldn't show well on the fabric.    In the meantime I've already started the Barbara Ana "Owl-o-ween" design :-)

Long time no see

Well it has been an awfully long time since I last posted here but I switched to Instagram (annsombel) a couple of years back (December 2016 to be exact) as I encountered some problems with posting on Blogspot and I didn't always know what to say. I kept following all of you who also have Instagram profiles but I admit that I'm missing the rest of you so ... I'll be posting here sometimes (let's say once a month or maybe a bit less) to keep you updated :-). Summary of what I've been doing in a nutshell (longish text so skip this if you don't feel like it :-):  Beginning of 2018: Moncarpacho workshop by Willyne Hamerstein (from her Millefiori Quilts 3 book) April 2018: start on "Doing the Rounds" by Thimblestitch - more or less halfway through now 2018: working on "Camelot" by Trish Harper - finished in June 2019 July 2018 - October 2018: SAL 100 Modern Quilt Blocks by Tula Pink (still have to sew all the blocks together but some block changes
