Dreaming Dear Jane

Hi all,

As you will know by now I'm obsessed working really hard on the Dear Jane quilt but ... there's still a long way to go. My first love will always be cross stitch and guess what ... via Amarin's site I've found a big cross stitch version (625 x 625 x-stitches) of the Dear Jane quilt for FREE. I've already downloaded and printed the charts :-).

I already knew the versions by Linda Myers (her designs often incorporate houses and quilt blocks in cross stitch form) but this one beats them for sure. Here's a couple of pictures for those not familiar with her works.

I have a the Jennifer Myers Dear Jane counted cross stitch pattern, but haven't started working on it yet.

Favourite designers - Renato Parolin and Rovaris

This time we travel to the south of Europe ... Italy being our destination ;-) RENATO PAROLIN I can't remember how I got to know the designs of Renato Parolin (who doesn't have a website nor a blog)... I suppose I've seen some of his designs on fellow stitchers' blogs. His - yes ladies a MALE designer - theme is nature with lots of trees, deer, doves, squirrels, owls, flowers and hearts. Once you've bought one chart, you want them all - trust me! Look at what I've gathered the last two years: And his lovely book which I already wanted to purchase for quite some time. First ornament of 2013!

I've finished it yesterday so I guess I'm still good for the 2013 Ornament SAL :-). I'm not completely sure if it's only the stitching that needs to be finished or the entire ornament ... I'll have to check that! So without further delay, here it is: Spring in my Garden Barbara Ana Designs   It was a real joy to stitch but the only thing I didn't like doing were the bees ... very small and fidly :-)   I've also changed the colour of the rabbit, chicken and the bees wings from DMC Desert Sand (colour variation) to 738 (rabbit and chicken) and white (bees wings) ... otherwise they wouldn't show well on the fabric.    In the meantime I've already started the Barbara Ana "Owl-o-ween" design :-)

Long time no see

Well it has been an awfully long time since I last posted here but I switched to Instagram (annsombel) a couple of years back (December 2016 to be exact) as I encountered some problems with posting on Blogspot and I didn't always know what to say. I kept following all of you who also have Instagram profiles but I admit that I'm missing the rest of you so ... I'll be posting here sometimes (let's say once a month or maybe a bit less) to keep you updated :-). Summary of what I've been doing in a nutshell (longish text so skip this if you don't feel like it :-):  Beginning of 2018: Moncarpacho workshop by Willyne Hamerstein (from her Millefiori Quilts 3 book) April 2018: start on "Doing the Rounds" by Thimblestitch - more or less halfway through now 2018: working on "Camelot" by Trish Harper - finished in June 2019 July 2018 - October 2018: SAL 100 Modern Quilt Blocks by Tula Pink (still have to sew all the blocks together but some block changes
