K3-mania

Hello all,

On Sunday 17th of January DH, myself and our two DD's went to a concert of K3, a very popular girls band in Belgium and the Nedetherlands.

A little bit mor explaining is needed I think :-) ...

K3 is a Belgian-Dutch girl band with a Dutch repertoire, whose current line-up is composed of Hanne Verbruggen,Marthe De Pillecyn and Klaasje Meijer, mainly aimed at pre-adolescent children. The name of the group is derived from the names of the three original members: Karen Damen, Kristel Verbeke and Kathleen Aerts. Kathleen Aerts left the group in 2009. Josje Huisman was chosen as K3's new member on October 3, 2009. Their music is produced by production company Studio 100.

The band became famous without any airplay from the regular music television channels like MTV, instead marketing directly to children via children- and cartoon-channels. Their signature is that the girls in the group all three mostly wear the same outfit. The band is mostly known as one of Europe's biggest acts and longest running girl band and they are famous for their poppy-happy songs and K3 dances.

K3 performed in several musicals: Doornroosje (Sleeping Beauty) in 2002, De 3 biggetjes (The three piglets) in 2003 and Alice In Wonderland in 2010. The musical was one of the first live musicals to use 3D projections.

The members of K3 have also starred in several theatrical films and TV-specials. They usually portray fictional versions of themselves, having all kind of adventures (some magical, some more normal).
* 2004: K3 en het Magische Medaillon (K3 and the magic medallion).
* 2006: K3 en het IJsprinsesje (K3 and the little ice princess),.
* 2007: K3 en de Kattenprins (K3 and the Catprince)
* December 2012: K3 Bengeltjes (K3 Little Rascals), the first movie without Kathleen, Josje's predecessor.
* February 2014: K3 Dierenhotel (K3 Animalhotel), the second movie with Josje Huisman

As the original girls (Karen, Kristel and Kathleen - later replaced by the Dutch Josje) got a little bit older and wanted to persue other things a TV-show was launched the last couple of months to find replacements which became Hanne, Marthe and Klaasje.

And now they're touring Belgium and the Netherland to give a number of concerts to say farewell to the "old" girls and welcome the "new" ones ... and yes, we went as well (our two girls just love the group - as well as mom and dad :-)))!

Thank you girls for giving us so much fun, songs and laughter all those years! We'll miss you but we're sure that the new girls are up to the task! I leave you with the videoclip of the girls' new single "10.000 luchtbalonnen" (10.000 balloons):

Have a nice weekend!
