Créativa Bruxelles 2013

Hi all,

Each year I'm looking forward to the first big craft fair of the year in Belgium = Creativa.

This year I decided to do things slightly different and go to the "Nocturne edition" - which is on Friday evening - instead of Saturday and I wasn't disappointed ... no crowd, all the "shops" were easily accessible and lots of time to browse and look for the things I needed :-).

The only negative thing I can think of when comparing with last year was that there weren't many new shops to discover and that it was in another hall than usual (which gives it another feeling in my opinion).

Something I also discovered a couple of days before was the theme of the quilt exhibition to be held = a number of Dear Jane quilts (mostly from Belgium and a couple of the Netherlands and the USA) was on exhibition! As I'm planning on making one (not in a near future) this caught my interest as well!

Here's an impression:

Entrance and "Les Jardins de Nana" where I bought some linnen fabric

Ric rac and other trims (left) and Michael Powel cross stitch kits (right)

The Quiltmania booth with last years Mystery Quilt from Yoko Saito

Some other quilts on display in the hall:

I particularly liked this one because it's clear that much time and detail went into this one
(pitty that I didn't think of taking a picture of the creator's name).

I loved the left quilt -the border was quilted in a Sashiko pattern
("fiche technique" available from France Patchwork)

A couple of Japanese quilts (the left one is from a Quiltmania issue)

The Dear Jane exhibit:

Just love the background fabrics used in these two ... instant antique look and feel!

Two opposites (the pink DJ was quilted in an interesting way.

Different but alike - or vice versa :-)?

Very colourfull and bold (the right one is from the USA)

Two of my favourites : the left one is heavily quilted and breathes spring just as the right one.

"Delft blue" ... really appealed to me! Only made in two colours but oh so strong!

Green = Ireland!

Christmas Janes!

Winter White ... I love that border!

So what did I buy ... Can you believe I forgot to take a picture of my treasures?!
Here's the online version:

Linnen for three designs that I want to embroider shortly:

Zweigart 32ct vintage green and a grey-purple

Just Nan Twilight Pearls Leaf Ball

Zweigart 32ct vintage ivory or cream for the Just Nan Hoppington Hill cube

Blue 12ct linnen from Texarmor = a French manufacturer (cheaper than Zweigart but same quality)

Border and background fabric for a small quilt I'm working on

Chart and book:

UB-Design "Spaziergang durch unser Dorf" and Isabelle Vautier "Kokeshi ..."

Stille in "afterglow" ;-)!
