Liebster Award

Image
Hi all, Thank you all for your kind comments on my last ornament. They were highly appreciated! I adored stitching the leprechaun ornament because it is colourfull (I just adore colours in a design - the more the better :-) and I'm longing for Spring/Summer! Another great news is that I was given a Liebster Award by Emma . Thanks so much dear! You've brightened up my weekend :-) 11 facts about me: 1.  I started stitching/crafting early. I think I was 7 or 8 years old when we learned at school and I've never stopped since then (I still have my first embroidered pouch)! 2. Blonde is my natural haircolour but that doesn't mean that I'm stupid (I can even laugh with all those jokes out there) :-)! 3. I'm most at my ease in "pants" and don't fancy skirts a lot. I can't even imagine to have lived before the 30's when they were forbidden to girls/ladies! 4. Don't you never, ever try to feed me intestines (liver, heart, lungs, ki...

Supergoof's Trunkshow

Image
Hi all, Looking at my blog posts of January and February it seems that I don't have a lot of inspiration for the moment. This doesn't mean that I'm quiet on the hobby front :-). However ... yesterday was a special day! I got to see Ingrid Van der Horst, better known as Supergoof , in real live and better yet, also her quilts that we were allowed to touch, sniff, ... ;-). I already knew a lot of stuff from her blog but it was sooo impressive to hear her stories and see those quilts live! 79 other women agread :-) Here's an impression: Welcome drink (look at the welcoming "gifts") and introducing Ingrid or "Supergoof" Wedding ring quilt Basket quilt - motif coming from an old Ariadne (have to look up that one) The famous "Klosjesquilt" that was even made on other continents (like the USA) The "vingerhoedjesquilt" - ideal for scraps Baskets from the Blackbird Designs "When the Col...

Knit and purl ...

Image
Hello all! It's been a week since I blogged ... shame on me! I had a really full week with one last birthday celebration for my eldest DD (7 year-old now). She invited 10 of her fellow students to go to an indoor play area ... and of course yours truly had to supervise. It was fun but also tiring :-). This doesn't mean that I didn't work on some of my projects :-) I crocheted a little bit more on my red shawl, I finished the biggest part of my knitted bag and stitched on two more ornaments. :-) One of the two ornaments - Happy Owl-O-Ween by Barbara Ana This has to become a (little) felted shoulder bag :-) I also started working on a new project yesterday evening. It's the first time that I'm working on a 40-count and with one thread over one. It promises to be exciting but difficult at the same moment ... we'll see how it goes! Busy weekend and some crochet

Image
First of all a warm welcome to my new followers (and the existing ones as well)! Thanks for all your kind comments the last couple of days! I've had quite a busy weekend which was kicked of with the birthday of my eldest DD who turned 7 on Friday (where's the time when she was a little baby that fitted in the palm of my hand?). Here's something she made last Wednesday - I think she inherited my creative genes ;-). On Saturday it was shopping and laundry day and on Sunday I didn't really feel like stitching but I decided to start on a crocheted shawl ... in red (I just adore red). The thread is entirely cotton, available in different colours (saffron, purple, pink, light and dark blue and green and so on). It asks for a crochet size 3 but I'm doing it with 3 1/2. Frankly ... it's not really a pleasant thread to crochet with because I often get caught/tangled with my hook in the thread that consists of different smaller strands. DMC Natura - Nr 23...

First time knitting

Image
Hi all, On of my resolutions for the 2012 was trying to learn knitting ... So with a little delay I had my first knitting lesson yesterday (4 in total). I was pleasantly surprised with the speed that childhood "memories" came back! I touched a knitting needle for the last time in craft lessons at school when I was something like 12-14 years old :-). We practised the basic stitches and everything went well :-). We also had the choice between a "simple" scarf or a small bag (to be felted afterwards) that also uses the technique of adding and diminishing your stitches. Of course I chose the bag! LOL! Here's a piccie of the pretty wool ... did I tell you that I'm a "multicoloured girl" :-)? Manos del Uruguay - colour 9831 Handdyed wool - uses needles 5 or 6 mm (US 8-10) And the knitting needles in size 6 mm (I knit too tight :-). They're from Brittany Needles ! A company that carves them out of Birch. From their site: Why bu...

Snow Give Away

I'm sure we all like to cross stitch but maybe also quilt? That's why I wanted to draw your attention to a " Snow Give Away " that De Quilthoeve is hosting. I'm trying my luck at the red fabrics (I just adore that colour)! Good luck!
