Foir' Fil 2014

Hi all,

Spring and autumn are always the best periods to go to interesting hobby salons. Is it this time because autumn is here and we need to forget summer with all its good weather, holidays, and less time for everything crafts related? I'm quite sure that autumn is a season where once again we "nestle" ourselves in our cosy homes, pick up our different types of needles and embroider, quilt and knit again.

Yesterday (Sunday) I went to a one-day event south of Brussels = the Foir' Fil. Everything here is dedicated to cross stitch (and also some quilting, felting and rug hooking). It really is our little Belgian "Aiguille en Fête" (a very big and famous salon in Paris which opens the creative season each year in February :-). Quite a lot of different designers from Belgium, France and Holland who came and showed/sold us their different works. For a complete list of whom was there you can always visist their site.

This year you could win a very big and lovely piece stitched by Gigi Ries (a Belgian designer of very lovely samplers) accompagnied by two rings of Classic Colorworks (formerly known as Crescent Colours) full of silks and cottons - in total I think 80 to 100 skeins. Unfortunatelly I didn't win (but I came home with some goodies :-)

The prize:

All Little House Needleworks designs - embroidered by Gigi Ries

An impression of all the different designer's booths:

In the other hall (there were two):

Tralala ... I wasn't aware she has sooo many lovely little designs!
Makes me want to stitch a big banner like Gigi did (see first picture)!

And two lovely Belgian shops:

't Gaerenhuys - Ghent
(look what she did with the cushion - an Ikea fabric)

Craft Corner - Jodoigne

I'll show you my found "treasures" later this week :-)!

Have fun!

Groetjes, Nienke

Hi Ann. I am visiting for the first time. I never knew there was such a great market in Belgium each year. I live in Holland and could easily go to this next year. I am going to make a note of it and try to remember.

Greetings from Holland,
Heidi
